Indesign 2025 not opening files

I'm running Sequoia 15.3.1 and installed Indesign 2025 a few weeks ago. It is not opening files. The computer right next to me is able to open them and is using the same OS but is beefed up with an M1 chip. The files are on the cloud. All font are available. Our tech said my computer is fine. I could possibly open them in Indesign 2024 but don't really want to change the files too much. I have read a few people are struggling with 2025. Any ideas or is it a wait and see.

What exactly do you mean by that - what cloud service?

There should be an option to "save space" or "keep locally" - the point is to set this option that copies of ALL files will be kept LOCALLY - and only synchronised when needed - not downloaded when needed = "available for immediate access".

Hi @nathanielhiller,

Thanks for reaching out! Please share the details requested by the expert. Also, could you confirm if you're using InDesign 2025 version 20.2? When you try to open the files, do you see any error messages, or does nothing happen? Are you opening them directly from Finder or through InDesign’s File > Open menu?

Since the files open fine on another Mac, try saving them locally before opening to see if that helps. Let me know how it goes.

Looking forward to your update.

Hi Abhisek,

No error messages - just spinning wheel then force quit is required. Specs above. I have tried copying it locally and didn't have much luck. It got a little further but then stopped. I've tried opening them from the finder and indesigns open menu.

Hi @nathanielhiller,

Thanks for sharing the details! As Robert suggested, could you confirm which cloud service you're using? Also, check if the files are set to "keep locally" instead of downloading on demand.

Could you also confirm if you're on InDesign 2025 version 20.2 or any other? Is this happening with all files or just a specific one? There’s no known issue for this, so if possible, could you share a sample file for us to test?

Looking forward to your update.

What are the specs of your Mac?

Especially - how much RAM do you have installed?

Do you get any errors?
