InDesign 2025 Running Super Slow

  • January 13, 2025

InDesign overloading CPU usage on basic tasks. Running the most recent version 20.0.1 and it has a major technical issue so don’t update until Adobe has a fix. Otherwise you wil be stuck waiting for files to open, save and do basic operations.

Any solutions welcome 🙂

i can agree to that, since a while i nearly freak out by working with InDesign feels like every useless click somehere takes at least 2min to load. I was wondering if it has to do with our Network and QNAP but when i read that i got some hope it can be fixed??

@Crossj

If you are on a PC and it's a fresh install - you'll have to leave it alone for at least an hour or even longer.

If you're on a Mac - there are plenty of threads - from resetting preferences to deactivating Font Managers and removing duplicated fonts.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Thanks for reaching out! I understand your concern. Would you mind sharing your OS details? Did the slowness start immediately after updating to version 20.0.1, or did it work fine for a while before the issue occurred?
Also, have you installed any third-party plugins or desktop management software recently?
Could you test the issue in Safe Mode and let us know if it persists? Here are the steps:
Are you seeing any crashes with InDesign as well?

Best,
Abhishek
