InDesign 2025 support for PDF element accessibility tags

Hi gang,

Do you happen to know if InDesign 2025 supports certain PDF element tags?

Have they improved/added on the following tags?

  • Part
  • Code
  • Formula
  • Annot
  • BibEntry
  • Quote
  • BlockQuote

(If this question sounds familiar, yes, I have asked this question every couple of years.)

Last time I tested, the above tags were not directly supported in InDesign.

Has that improved with the release of the InDesign 2025 version?

None of the above. InDesign has a few grouping tags, but not Part. The rest of the tags is not supported, but you can always Role map them to Paragraph styles in Acrobat ( but not to Character styles, so you can Role map to BlockQuote but not Quote...).

Hi Frans,

I'm glad you wrote about "you can always Role Map them" in Acrobat. I hate role-mapping tags that should already match in Acrobat PDF. What a continual waste of time. Year after year!

Hi gang, just bumping this list request for an acknowledgment of which tags are supported versus which tags are not. We should have a reference relative to PDF and EPUB and Publish Online, too.
