InDesign 2026 Master Page Items Marked as Artifacts Still Trigger Accessibility Errors in PAC 2024/2026 (Especially Links)

Still an issue in InDesign 2026

Graphical elements on a masterpage labeled as aftefact are not checked in PAC 2024 and 2026.

Solution in Adobe community

InDesign to Acrobat issues with links on master page | Community

They say, don’t place links on a masterpage but only in the document pages.

This is strange. A link or a graphical element is a generic element for all the pages.

When you have a document of about 100 pages, you should place 100 times a link on each page to get no failures in PAC 2026.

I found two other posts in the InDesign community, but both are not the solution.

  1. They suggested: Override the masterpage items

  1. Remediate in Adobe Acrobat Preflight is not a structure solution what should be done in InDesign and pdf export as a tagged pdf,

Nothing to discus as far as I’m concerned, Parent Page items should be artefacted. The idea to place a link on a Parent page is a bad idea anyway for Accessibility, it will be repeated on many pages which is a very bad experience for users, it is not recommended. If you still do so, you have indeed the options you mentioned. But don’t.

    hi Frans,

but artifacts on the masterpage are still give an error in PAC 2024 and 2026.
Do you have another solution then for the export in stead of the preflight option?

They give you an error because you artefacted a link, so an existing link has no connected tag (nor OBJR), this is not allowed. You can ‘delete’ the link in Acrobat (right click on the link in Acrobat, then remove) for Accessibility but just don’t use links on Parent pages, it is bad design for Accessibility (as you should know!)
