Indesign 21.1 crashes when importing chapter into book file

When I want to import another chapter (copy of an other chapter to keep my paragraph templates) it crashes immediately without any errormessage. I have done this many times, but now suddenly it causes a crash. 

I tried to go back to an earlier version of 21. Same problem.

I tried to go back to 20.5. But then I am not allowed to import some of the chapters. Created in the newer version. Catch 22. 

Really annoying. I now have a book nearly completed (26 chapters, 500 + pages) and I am stuck!

 

Please help, urgently.

PS: What? I cannot attach indesign book files here?

I have tried to attached a chapter (3368 kb) that causes the crash. That also does not work!! Stops halfway. I am not impressed. Had to cancel attachment.

Thanks for sharing the details, and sorry to hear about the trouble you're running into. To help narrow this down, could you please confirm whether the book file and chapters are saved and accessed locally on your machine, or if you're working with them from a network or remote location? I'd also like to check whether the crash happens only when importing that specific chapter, or if it occurs with any chapter you try to add.

If it seems limited to one chapter, please try opening that chapter on its own, saving it as an IDML, then opening the IDML and resaving it under a new INDD name. After that, try importing this newly saved INDD into the book and see if the crash still occurs. Also, after the crash, when you relaunch InDesign, do you see any dialog or prompt indicating that the application crashed? Please also confirm whether the Adobe Crash Reporter appears at any point during this process.

Thanks for a prompt relpy.

 

I tried to import another chapter. Same crash.

My files are stored on a personal onedrive.

After the crash, no message from indesign on relaunch

No Adobe Crash reporter

 

Hope we can find a solution.
