Any idea when the fix for the flyout boxes is going to be fixed? It has been months now and still not working.

How are we going with this? Still no update after months of working with this issue. I have sent an example file to you.

I have also experienced this same issue for the couple of months or so, certainly in 2026. It’s exceptionally annoying to suddenly have flyout menus not opening as they should.

    Hi @G_Man,

Sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this as well. If you’re still facing this issue, could you please share a short screen recording showing the full workflow, especially how the flyout menus stop responding on InDesign version 21.3. It would also really help if you could share an affected sample file after packaging it via File > Package. If the file is confidential, you can send it via DM using any cloud sharing service like Google Drive or Dropbox.

Also, since this seems to be file-related in some cases, could you try moving the content into a newly created InDesign document and check if the behavior persists there. You can refer to this for guidance: https://community.adobe.com/questions-671/how-to-move-pages-from-one-indesign-file-to-another-869599?postid=3053778#post3053778

Let me know how it goes, and I’ll be happy to take this further with the team based on your findings.

Just to follow up on what Dave Creamer suggested in regard to deleting your InDesign cache files. This process (which is not the same as deleting preferences) is usually quite successful in fixing issues within the interface.

    To delete cache files:

For Macintosh Users: The User Library folder in which InDesign’s cache files are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that InDesign is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N). With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire folder “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the InDesign cache folder completely leads to a lasting change.

For Windows Users: On Windows 7 and above the caches files are hidden. To find them go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options and then click the View tab. Then select “Show hidden files and folders” or “Show hidden files, folders or drive options” in Advanced Settings. Then delete (or rename) the folder at the end of this path: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\Version [#]\<Language>\Cache.

I’m not seeing this behavior on either my Mac or Windows systems.

Have you deleted your preferences and, more importantly, your caches?

    Hi @Robert Mellor,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please share a bit more detail about the issue, including what exactly isn’t working, when it occurs, and your OS and InDesign version? If possible, a short screen recording would also be helpful. This will help me better understand the behavior and check it with the team for you.

    Looking forward to your update.

I have already done this. Recorded the screen and sent it through. It’s not up to me to be testing all your bugs. When clicking on “Pages” or “Layers” or any other button the flyout is not openeing. I need to go to “Window” and “Reset Workspace” to get it to work again, then it will stop working when a new file is opened or InDesign is shutdown. I have tried deleteing my workspace and creating a new one, same issue.

Also, an issue that version 21.2 should have resolved with the text disapearing is still present, this needs to be fixed also.

I can confirm the “undo” bug (history) seems to be fixed though.

    Hi @Robert Mellor,

Thanks for sharing this, and I’m sorry for the continued frustration.

To help me check this further with the team, could you please confirm the OS and version you’re using along with InDesign 21.2? Also, have you noticed any specific pattern or situation when the flyout menus stop working?

After you reset the workspace, how long does it usually take for the issue to come back, for example after opening a new file or restarting InDesign?

    Looking forward to your update.
