InDesign 21.4.1 x64 hangs when exporting to PDF

Question

Machine is a Zenbook Duo (Windows 11). When exporting a relatively small (five page) document to PDF, InDesign hangs and never recovers.

Workaround is to tick the “Create separate PDF files” checkbox and combine the pages afterwards.

Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong? I’ve used InDesign for years and have never before seen this behavior.

What happens if you export from any other different indd file? The same problem? If not, the one document might have a corruption. You could try then, as a next troubleshooting idea, to export the potentially buggy .indd document out to .IDML. Re-open the .IDML file and save-as to a refreshed .indd document, and try the export to PDF again.
