InDesign 21.4 Bug: Unable to Move Multiple Selected Objects When Dragging Over Placed Images

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time.

Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break.

What could possibly be happening?

This issue still persists on version 21.4.1
Insanely frustrating having to move 100+ elements 1 by 1...

I can confirm I am on 21.4.1 (screenshot attached) and I cannot hold shift or option modifiers to do their respective task (constrain or duplicate)

That’s a different issue that’s not being discussed on this thread. You may want to create a new thread to give it the desired attention. Also, please include your operating system version.

Same issue started after update - and it is still present after rolling back to 21.4!
If the peak Adobe product starts to fail on simple task, the hell frozes...

That would be unusual. 21.4 is known to have this issue, while 21.4.1 should fix it. Can you please confirm that after updating to InDesign 21.4.1 you do have the exact issue discussed in this thread.

On 21.4.1 I had the issue. I’ve uninstalled 21.4.1 and went back to 21.4 - still had the issue.
But after updating to 21.4.1 again the problem went away, but I’ve restet the user setting this time.
So now it is ok!

I am on 21.4.1 version and this is constantly happening to me. I select multiple items and then go to move them and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It happens most often when I am selecting multiple image boxes and no text boxes.

can you double-check if the version you’re running is indeed 21.4.1? this should be fixed there.

The issue came back. It seems to be document related (now?). A new document doesn't have the issues but in some documents I worked in last week the behavior still exists. Saving it as IDML and reopening that doesn't fix the issue.
(windows 11, Indesign 21.4.1)

Looks like the issue only exists with Images by the way. Just empty frames work fine.

And all of a sudden the behaviour is normal again… (I didn't change any settings). Makes it even weirder...

Updated to 21.4.1 this morning. The bug seems to be fixed after updating.

Have everyone got a different update? I have been using an downgraded version because of this problem. I just upgraded again and nothing has changed? The problem is also with image frames.

- When you grab more than one image frames and try to move them with object selection tool only one of them moves. This problem is still on.
-Also in same situation when you try to align to key object it won’t work because you can’t highlight a single image. when you try to do that all selection cancels and it selects a single image. this also still on.

I know I upgraded correct version because there was a walkaround for this problems which you can select an additional shape or vector with images and you can move them. This walkaround doesn’t work now. So you change some things but whatever those are hasn’t solve the problem which you created.

And one more thing. when you select multiple objects. if you want to select out an image from your pile with shift click it won’t work.

I’m not mad anymore guys I’m amazed by these bugs. it’s like no one tested this version.
