InDesign 21.4 Bug: Unable to Move Multiple Selected Objects When Dragging Over Placed Images

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time.

Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break.

What could possibly be happening?

Hey, it seems like this only happens when moving multiple objects with placed links within a bounding object. The quick fix of using the shift key is more frustrating, as it restricts you to moving at a certain axis. This issue also stops you from selecting an anchor object for aligning too.

The fix I am using is just adding a regular marquee to my selection of images allowing me to move the objects freely and use that as an anchor for aligning object. Hope this gets fixed soon though!

If you relase the shift key once you start moving objects, the behaviour works as normal.

Latest version of Indesign - another "shift" key issue? Previously: I selected multiple objects, and then by selecting one object twice, you set that as the object that the others can then be aligned to. Now: This seems to still work, but the highlighting that used to indicate which object is the master object is now not visible. It makes it really hard to use this function.

Happening to me too. Selecting a key object, for aligning other objects to, doesn’t work anymore.

When selecting multiple objects and trying to align to one by selecting all and then selecting the one to be aligned too - not working either - hopefully a quick fix as it’s getting frustrating now having to do it all by hand…

@jamie.bip Are you referring to the Align to Key Object option? If so, then I can’t reproduce it — this seems to work for me. Or are you talking about something different?

The same here. Align to Key Object only work with forms, if it’s two imported images, impossible to determine a key object...

Same issue,  it did not happen prior to the 21.4  update, while the shift key is a work around - it’s not the best solution hopefully this is temporary.

Same here. Absolute disaster to the workflow. Rolling back to 21.3.
