InDesign 21.4 Bug: Unable to Move Multiple Selected Objects When Dragging Over Placed Images

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time.

Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break.

What could possibly be happening?

Hi, we released InDesign version 21.4.1 today that includes a fix for this issues. Please check out: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/desktop/whats-new/release-notes.html

Please update InDesign and let us know how it goes.

If you do not see the update in the Creative Cloud Desktop App, check out: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/manage-apps/creative-cloud-apps/update-creative-cloud-apps-manually.html

    Thanks,

Same here. Absolute disaster to the workflow. Rolling back to 21.3.

Yes, I’ve been using the “hold shift key to move everything” work around for a day or two, and while it does work, it’s really not ideal. Reading the comments, I didn’t realise I could roll-back. I’ll go do that now….

Urgh….I don’t have the option to roll-back to a previous version (probably because it’s an enterprise licence).

Please fix it! Driving me insane. Have a deadline now so don’t have the time to roll back...

I placed multiple images on a page in InDesign. If I select more than one by holding shift and selecting each image with the Selection Tool, and then move them with my cursor, only the last image I selected moves. This also happens when I select all the images with my cursor and try to move them.

I attached a video below to explain what I mean.

I am working on a 2020 iMac and have updated to v 21.4 of InDesign.

I have the same problem and have rolled back to 21.3 and is back working as it should. Looks like a bug in 21.4 and is not usable until it is fixed.

I can also reproduce it (as well as the workaround of holding Shift).

Also, as far as I can see this only affects graphics but not text frames. That is, if you have two text frames selected, you can move them both as expected. And if you have a text frame and an image selected and drag the text frame, then both objects will move (while if you drag the image, only the image will move).
