Question

InDesign (and other Adobe programs) prints with magenta tint when InDesign Color Management is on?

I am on an iMac, 10.12.6, with CC and an Epson SureColor P600.

I have looked a tons of forums and guides but have found no answers. I am printing on Epson Paper using the ICC profiles for the specific types of paper, and despite following every detail of the instructions, all of my prints are pink on all of the different papers. The only way to print accurate colors (especially whites) is exporting photos and documents and printing them from Acrobat using Printer Color Management.

I'm at a loss because I've checked and double checked everything that could be going wrong and there's nothing.

I saw on a third party website that some people with the latest mac software are having issues with printing which leads me to believe that the only explanation is that it's a bug on Adobe or Apple's side.

Am I doing something wrong or is it really a bug?

I appreciate your help!

Hi johnm,

I would like to know if the steps suggested above worked for you, or the issue still persists.

Kindly update the discussion if you need further assistance with it.

Thanks,

Srishti

Two thoughts come to mind. First, are you sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer? Second, you said that you chose  the ICC profiles for the specific type of paper. I have always thought of color profiles as specific for the device and not the paper. Try using the device profiles and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks Bill.

The software is all up to date.

Epson offers certain color profiles for their paper products, so everything from their photo glossy to their art paper has a corresponding profile specific to the printer model.

There is a wide range of profiles for example, SC-P600 Series Standard, SC-P600 Series Premium Glossy, SC-P600 Series Velvet Fine Art Paper, etc.

So it's specific to the device and their proprietary paper. The Standard profile is really for plain paper, so there isn't really a device-only profile.

Any other ideas?

The reason I was questioning it was that I also have an Epson printer but I have never adjusted my profiles for the paper and have been very satisfied with the results. Granted my printer is a lower model than yours but the only thing that I've ever done is to go through the InDesign Print window to the Printer option on the bottom of the window and (and this differs for each printer) under whatever printer options are offered either choose the actual type of Epson paper or the quality of print that I wanted (it has varied depending on which of the several Epsons I've owned over the years). I've never had a problem with Epson quality.
