InDesign (Beta) on SnapDragon X Plus – "Build Has Expired" Error on Latest Version

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using InDesign (Beta) on my Windows PC because my SnapDragon X Plus processor isn’t compatible with the standard version of InDesign. However, since this morning, the application won’t launch anymore. I immediately get the following error message:

"Your InDesign (Beta) build has expired."

The strange thing is that I already have the latest available version installed, which is 20.6.

Do you know when it will be possible to use InDesign (Beta) again?
Will a new build be released soon so we can continue working with it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Do you know when this will be? It's frustrating to suddenly not be able to work and no idea when it will be available to use?

Hello everyone,

InDesign Beta 20.6 with build 42 is now available on Windows. Kindly try installing it and let us know how it goes.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or require assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Is anyone else having this issue? Reinstalled the newest InDesign Beta version and screen appears a little bit not right. I can't click or navigate to anything to even attempt to change the resolution or play with the display settings.

Operating Windows 11 with Snapdragon processer.

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my InDesign beta build - it says the beta version has expired, and now I can’t open or continue working on my project. I really need access because I have an important school assignment due soon, and all my work is in that file.

I’ve tried updating Creative Cloud and checking for available versions, but I still get the “beta build expired” message with no option to open the app.

Does anyone know how to:
- restore access to the beta version,
- switch to a stable release without losing my files, or
- recover/export my existing project another way?

Any advice would really help. Thank you!

The released version is available in the Creative Cloud app and is available with your subscription. The beta version is for testing and is not to be used for production work.

I'm confused about where you saved the file. Did you save it in the Cloud or on your hard drive? It should still be there.

A good number of these folks are running machines with Snapdragon processors and cannot install the release versions.

Beta versions of software are for testing, never use them for important work.

Many of the people faced with this issue are using computers with ARM-based processors. Adobe either needs to get on the ball and release a stable version or stop promising one.

Vielen vielen Dank!

The only way to use InDesign on Windows ARM and Parallels was/is the Beta version of InDesign. Today it expired and there is no update yet.
So no InDesign to use for now…
Any updates?

Hi,

Are there any updates yet concerning this problem?

December 10, 2025

I am using the beta version of InDesign since I can't download the official version on my laptop. What I could find out was that my computer is too new and they haven't updated InDesign for my device, so I have been using the beta version for two months. Just today I tried to open it, and it told me the build I use is expired, but there is no newer build for me to download, and I still can't download the official release anywhere.

Is there any way to download it and keep working on my files. We're supposed to submit our project on tuesday, but now I can't keep working on it on my device.

Exact same issue here, SnapDragon X plus and indesign beta version expired.

I already tried going to older builds/versions but still the same message pops up, also restarted and updated the laptop with no succes.

Same here. Tried the 20.4, restarted, reupdated the 20.6, restarted... but still the same expiration error problem.

Using: SnapDragon X Plus

In the end, can't use InDesign...
