InDesign bug

Hi there, I've been having some issue with InDesign. Whenever I want to use the menu bar on my mac, it highlights to show I've selected "File" or "Edit" but the options never show. I'll switch to another application and it'll be working fine the the options showing up. It also tends to lag a lot, but other Adobe applications are running fine.

Has anobody else been having the same/ similar issue or am I the only one?

I am running on a 14 inch macbook pro, m1 pro cpu.
