InDesign Cannot Save Files and Reports "Database Error"

I feel like the live cloud connection in InDesign is making the program slow as molasses and I don’t use it.

I don’t and won’t ever use Adobe cloud, so how do I terminate that live connection?

When I click the “Connected” notice on my “Home” page when the program’s open (no files open) it doesn’t give any option to disconnect. It does show that I don’t have any files in the cloud and have used 0% storage.

How do I close the connection???

You need to uninstall a particular Windows update (or install a newer one), see more info here:

Hi @FloridaGal , InDesign runs from your local system and Application folder—you don’t need a constant internet connection in order to run InDesign. You just need a monthly connection to verify your subscription.

Thanks all for your input. OMG - resetting preferences, good grief. The suggestions linked to show SO many ways InDesign has issues, it’s mind boggling to figure out where to start.

Right now it’s corrupting ALL my work files, which were fine the last time I used them. And I’m not making any major changes or doing anything different than my usual work flow.

I’m using Windows 11 25H2, a current Dell AIO, and for the last week have had nothing but grief from InDesign. I’ve tried turned off OneDrive and leave it off before I open InDesign, but I’m still unable to save my files without the error message saying they’re corrupted.

The the program hangs up and I have to shut it down in Task Manager. This is incredibly frustrating and devastating my work product. It’s totally mystifying.

Also, this connection is required to poll your subscription status so you can’t really disconnect from Creative Cloud to which you have subscribed.

I am not sure you can do that. But this can’t be the reason of slowness. This is not reported if I remember correctly nor have I faced this personally. Would you mind to drop details like your InDesign version, OS version, when do you actually see a slowness and is that unique to a particular file or InDesign version or not.
