Question

Indesign CC 16.1 double click to enter text box not working, instead it switches to threading text

It is the worst thing that can happen!!

When I try to deselect a text box by clicking outside the text box, the cursor converts to threading text frame. Its like haveing selected the 'In port' of the text box and waiting for me to thread to another text box.

It is the most anoying thing ever!

I have recently discovered that if you click on the left side of the box it does deselect the text box, but if you click on the right side of the box (outside the box of course) it automatically switches to text threading tool.

Same if you want to switch from selecting the text box to the text tool by double clicking inside the text box;

if you double-click on the left half of the text box (inside the text box area) it does switch to the text tool, but if you double click on the right half of the  text box it switches to threadin text tool from the In Port of the text box, thus creating a new trext frame.

Please waht am i missing here

Thanks

First thing I'll do is updating from InDesign 16.1 to InDesign 16.4.

Hi dritanl,

let's sort this out.

My interpretation:

In your title you say that a double-click to select text inside a text frame does not work.

Instead the cursor switches its appearance to a "place gun" cursor that could be filled with text or could be used to do a new threaded text frame. Does that describe your experience correctly?

Just tried that and with my Windows version of InDesign 2021 it is working as expected.

A double-click inside a text frame will activate an insertion point in the text.

What's your version of InDesign?

EDIT: Scratch that. Your version is 16.1.

What are your machine specs and what's your operating system?

If you are working on a Mac: is GPU support enabled?

Thanks,
Uwe Laubender
