We were able to delete cache files (Mac OS X) for InDesign (without having to reinstall InDesign) to restore functionality:

    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign

    ~/Library/Caches/com.adobe.InDesign

    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/CCX Welcome/.lockfile

Restarting InDesign (without having to restart the computer) brought InDesign back.

Problem solved. But i don't know how...??. I think some "indesign updates" renew the some wrong things on background.

Then you DON'T have the same problem. Please start a new thread with full details of your issue and your system.

THANK YOU, everyone. You're SO awesome. I almost lost a deadline because of this issue. It was SO annoying and frustrating…

Shame on Adobe: the updates are getting worse each version, support is atrocious.

Thanks Bob! I laughed, which is good. Yes, shame on Apple too if it's their issue…

I do know a LOT of Adobe apps broke in OS X 10.10 after the CC2015 update… Apple didn't update anything there. Credit due, there was an Adobe update released to fix a bunch of issues. I'm hoping they issue more updates soon…

I believe they put an update through today that broke everybody's in design, I've been having the same trouble. I just put 2014 on. Thanks for forwarding that, I wondered if it was just me

AWESOME! That is the most RIDICULOUS cause for a problem, but it worked! I loved that new function, too. Oh well...
