InDesign CC 2018 bulk replace linked images?

Converting an InDesign 2018 CC (Mac OS 10.11.6) book (with lots of images) to EPUB the resulting EPUB file is 170mb.

I have a duplicate set of the same images with the same file names, just considerably smaller.

When I hover over "Update Link," it directs Option-Click to select all but only one image highlights.

Is it possible to bulk replace images?

Export to EPUB?

What are the ideal export settings?

Depends on what you're targeting. Also worth noting that there's no assurance that an image heavy epub is going to be anything smaller than that. I've done some that came in at 750MB with videos.

Try playing around with the image export settings. If you're not using any transparency, use JPG instead of PNG and start out at 72ppi.

What makes you think this will shrink up the epub. It’s much more likely a result of your export settings.

Is this fixed layout or reflowable?

Fixed layout.

Some of the images are, indeed, way too large for purposes. There are over 200 images woven into the text, most displayed rather small, so the file sizes don't need to be large.

And they’ll be downsampled on export. Check your export settings.
