InDesign CC and MathTools V3

Hi All

For one of our math projects, the author is anticipating that space will expand in certain places and decrease in other places. I am working on "InDesign CC22 & Mathtools V3" to do this. Do equation preferences have a way to be fixed? Guide us, please
