Question

InDesign CC Edit Cross-Reference Panel very slow to load

I am working on my annual publication (about 250 pages) and am completing the many cross-references at the beginning of sections, within articles, etc.  When I open the "Edit Cross-Reference" Panel it can take minutes to load - even if there are no invalid cross-references.  I'm not sure what is different this year than last, maybe the upgrade from CS6 to CC - but I don't have many more cross-references than previous years.

I'm running Windows 10 (suppose that was probably upgraded since last year too) and have checked that I have plenty of space on my hard disk.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening and what I could do to fix?  I have typed this entire message while waiting for the dialogue to appear.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ian,

We are very sorry to hear about this. I would request you to please try resetting InDesign preferences to improve the performance: Set preferences in Adobe InDesign

Also, please check if InDesign shows the same behavior on other files or not.
