InDesign CC is very slow on my new MacBook Pro!?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me out, I've just setup my new MacBook Pro in the last few weeks and noticed that InDesign is very slow at performing pretty simple tasks like opening files, saving files and sometimes moving items around.

I also updated to that latest Adobe Creative Cloud and I'm using macOS High Sierra version 10.13.2.

It might be a faulty installation. Consider uninstalling InDesign using the drop-down menu in the Creative Cloud app (see screen shot), then reinstall. If that doesn't improve things, uninstall InDesign again and run Adobe Cleaner before reinstalling. Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

    Hi,

    Thanks for helping out!

    1. Just tried the GPU performance, didn't change anything.

    2. I'm using InDesign CC 2018 (13.0.1).

    3. Computer spec below.

I have also attached common windows etc. that keep showing as the spinning wheel of doom keeps spinning.

    (Lots of READING going on!)

    Cheers

Since you said that this is a fresh install on a new computer it may be safe to say that you're running the program with a fresh set of preferences so deleting them is probably not your problem. Are you running the program as part of a network or is it a personal computer? If you are on a network check with your network administrator to be sure that the network software is compatible with CC 2018. Sometimes to keep older virus protection and firewall software running networks may deliberately not be updated which could certainly be at least part of your problem.

Which exact version of InDesign do you have, the latest is 13.01?

Have you tried unticking GPU performance under the GPU Performance tab in Preferences ?

    Hi,

I have just run a quick test. Just tried opening 2 different InDesign work files without InDesign already up and running basically from scratch and then timed them both. Basically it took 1min 35sec and 1min 36sec, how long should it normally take to open work files on a top of the range Mac with the most up to date software, it was quicker on my old machine?!!

Even when the software has opened and the work is displayed the spinning wheel is spinning and crunching.

Does anybody know what might be the problem?

    Thanks
