indesign CC paragraph style shading missing

Hello my dear friends,

My indesign paragraph style shading is missing. But it is only missing when I packaged the indesign file and open it in another computer. Even when the Indesign cc is the same version as the version that I used to create the paragraph style shading, the shading part is gone. The paragraph style shading shows fine only when I open the indesign file on the original Indesign CC computer that I created the file.

Can anyone please tell me how to keep the shading part? By the way, all the other paragraph styles show correctly. it is only the paragraph style shading that is missing.

My paragraph style shading has a gradient color and this gradient color is saved as a swatch color in my indesign file, too.

I opened the file in both INDD and IDML... the paragraph style shading is missing in both.

Hi Alex,

can you do a small sample out of that document, store it on Dropbox and post the link here so that we can test the issue?

To see into this we would need the InDesign document with the intact shading plus an IDML file you exported from that.

I am using a PC computer and Indesign (where I created the original file) is CC 2019 (14.0.1.209 which is the latest version) .

I have not tested any other documents. I should probably do that.

The paragraph style shading is missing in the IDML (when open in a previous version of Indesign) and it is also missing in the same version of Indesign (when open in another computer).

My point is this: Even when I open file in the same version of Indesign, the paragraph style shading is missing because I'm using another computer.

Also, the paragraph style shading is missing in the IDML.

You didn’t answer my question. Are you opening the INDD file or the IDML?

When you post the screen shots can you make sure to post the Paragraph Panel from both computers so that we can confirm that the feature is available on both computers? The Paragraph shading option is a relatively new feature (started with CC 2015) and it seems possible that if the computer that is not showing it could be running the original CC from 2013 which was referred to officially as InDesign CC. The last two versions (CC 2018 and 2019) are also officially InDesign CC so it would be easy to think that you have the same version on both computers while one of them could be the older version.

One other thought. As a Creative Cloud subscriber you have access to all versions from CS6 and later. If you find that you have the older version on one computer you can update it through the Desktop app. To update to the latest version CC 2019 (14.0.1) you will need Mac OS X Sierra or later, Windows 7 (with Service Pack 1 installed) or the latest version of Windows 10 (the original version will not work). If you don't have any of these operating systems then the latest version of InDesign will not show up in the app section of the Desktop app.

Can you confirm the version of the operating system and InDesign you are using?

A couple of screenshots would help us, can you include them as well?

Have you tested the same process with other documents?
