InDesign CC2018 Type Tool Screen Blink

It appears to be the same issue as reported in CC2017:

Specs:

InDesign CC2018 (13.1)

Mac Pro Late 2013

Mac OS Mojave (10.14.3)

64 GB RAM

AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB

Any document when first opened will blink the document window (not the entire screen - just the document) when clicking into a frame with the Type tool.

It occurs one time only then the remainder of work on that document is fine.

Open another document, issue reoccurs.

Double-clicking a text frame with the Selection tool will not blink and take you into the text frame without issue.

I've reset ID Prefs, removed all third party plugins and zapped my PRAM just in case.

InDesign does not have GPU turned on (unavailable due to incompatible monitor/chip)

Tried on multiple Macs - including Macbook Pro and newest Mac Mini. Same results.

    Hi,

    I had the same issue when attaching a second monitor. For me increasing the size of the cursor just a little soleved the issue.

      Here's something even more frustrating - GPU works in CC2017 and 19 but not 18.

      Go figure.

      Yes, my GPU is on in each version of InDesign since that feature was released.

      Update - CC2019 does resolve the issue but also verifies it.

      I am able to activate the GPU settings in CC2019 on my Mac Pro, which are unavailable in 2018.

      When the GPU preview is on - no blink.

      When I turn it off in 2019 - it blinks.

      Until we can upgrade to 2019, we are stuck with a bug.

      I can't reproduce that in the last version of InDesign CC 2018.

      My setup:

      MacBook Pro (2016). 16 GB RAM. Mojave macOS 10.14.4.

      More importantly, because it's pretty unlikely there will be any bug fixes for InDesign CC 2018, I can't reproduce it in the current version InDesign CC 2019 (14.0.2). If it still happens for you in CC 2019, I'm report it to the UserVoice forum where product managers and engineers can see it, and people can vote on it:

      I've already submitted a bug report via the internal forums.

      What do you have for a video card/VRAM?

      Are you able to enable GPU in InDesign CC2018?
