I wanted to make two files out of one file because it was too big. (All is happening on the cloud)
So i succeded in saving one half, but when i was saving the other, it just crashed. and now i cannot open my mother file, containing the whole file, neither the second half file. If i try to import the file in a new document, it says it’s already opened by someone else. What can i do ?
(sry the screenshot is in french)
(Also, if i ttry to open the mother file, adobe just crashes. I sent it to adobe.
I tried to download but it won’t, and i duplicated the files but same results)

    Hi @flo_3779,

Thanks for reaching out and really sorry to hear you’re running into this issue.

To help investigate this further, could you please confirm your InDesign version and OS details?

Also, since your file is saved to Creative Cloud, as suggested by the expert, could you try reverting to an earlier version from the version history and check if that opens correctly? You can follow this guide: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/work-with-cloud-documents/manage-and-restore-files/revert-to-earlier-version.html

You can also try accessing the file from the Creative Cloud web interface and check if it opens there or allows you to restore a version. Renaming the file from the web to a different name may help release any stuck lock. Additionally, try signing out and back into Creative Cloud Desktop and allow it to fully sync before attempting again. If the file is shared, please confirm it is not open on another system or session.

Additionally, I tried checking for any crash reports submitted using your community email but couldn’t find any. Could you please confirm if you saw the Adobe crash reporter when the app crashed? If yes, kindly submit the report and share the email used via DM so I can check the logs. You can refer to this for steps: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

Please try these and let me know how it goes so we can proceed further.

    Abhishek

I don’t suppose you were working in a OneDrive or Dropbox folder were you? If so, you can easily recover the version before you tried all of this.

Which cloud? Adobe’s? I have no idea what features that has but if it keeps versions, revert to the last good version. This is a good lesson when making dramatic changes, work on a copy of hte file.
