Is InDesign cloud documents still in beta? This page indicates that it is still a beta feature, but I'm not sure if that's correct. I'm not running a beta version of InDesign and am able to save cloud documents, but I don't want to use it in "real work" if it is still a beta feature.

Yes, the feature itself is still in beta (even though it's now added to the released version of InDesign).

I agree that it's a good idea not to use it for real work just yet.
