Command + D in InDesign is not working as of this morning when I updated it with the newest rounds of updates. Even if I go to "File -> Place", no dialogue box comes up.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. This can happen if any other application is utilizing the keyboard shortcut. You can try rebooting the computer and then check by launching InDesign only. If it still doesn't work, please try resetting your preferences and let us know how it goes.

Thanks

Same issue, out of nowhere…

When is the last time you restarted your computer? That seems to have resolved the issue for several people.

Hi together,

had a similar issue lately with the German InDesign 2022 version 17.4 on MacOs.

The shortcut Cmd + D did not work. Also the menu command did not work.

What was possible:

dragging an image file from the file system to the page, the cursor was loaded with the image.

A simple restart of InDesign resolved the issue.

Maybe the installed plug-in for EasyCatalog could be the reason.

Had no time for further investigations…

Ask Adobe Support Chat about it.

Same here. I have tried emptying caches, restarting machine, uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign. This is really frustrating. Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong?

Have you reset the InDesign preferences back to the factory defaults (this is different from reinstalling the application)?

The InDesign keyboard shortcut may have been assigned to another action, it would be worth checking.

There are different levels of resetting corrupt preferences. If you started with the keyboard shortcut technique, I'd suggest moving on to deleting/rebuilding the cache and preferences:

Same here. Command + D suddenly doesn't work anymore. I've tried to reset my preferences but doesn't help.

I suggest you reset your InDesign preferences to see if that resolves the issue.
