Question

Indesign constantly crashes on new Macbook Pro with Sequoia 15.1.1 - Unable to access cloud docs.

I have a new work computer which was upgraded partly due to belieiving 8gb of Ram wasn't enough to run Adobe apps (2024 Macbook Pro M4 Pro 48GB). I predomantly need to use Indesign and have spent the last week or two messing around with signing in/out restarts, trying to download files, viewing actiivity monitor, Adobe support calls. Most importantly I'm not getting any work done and it's stresssing me out.

Should I try to install the previous IOS?

The worst part is that I can't access the cloud docs after I've spent the last few months migrating my files there.

It's driving me crazy! Please help.

Do you have full access rights to the installation folders of InDesign?

Have you installed any extra fonts?

Can you create a new user account on your machine and try only InDesign?

Thanks, I had another remote session this morning and I saw that the Adobe support chap spent 30m mins or so and deleted all the adobe folders / files etc again and re-installed. When they saw that the cloud docs were still not working, they just ended the chat without saying a word and apparently the case is closed haha! Adobe support is really shocking I must say, I don't blame the indiviuals trying to help me of course.

On the plus side I can now download the files and work locally so will do that to get my tasks done today.

In answer to your questions; yes I can access files. I did install a font family as Adobe fonts were playing up and yes I will try the new user idea (again when I have a little more time tomorrow). Many thanks.

Hi @Andy35398343kldn,

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing frustrations—it's tough when you're unable to focus on work due to tech issues. It's good to know you can now download files and work locally as a temporary solution. In the meantime, you can try below:

  1. Cloud Document Access Issue

    • Ensure no firewall, VPN, or security settings are blocking Adobe's cloud services.
    • Open the Creative Cloud app, go to the preferences, and verify that file syncing is turned on. Log out and back into the app after making changes.
    • If syncing still fails, test uploading and downloading a document from another Adobe app (like Photoshop) to see if it's an issue isolated to InDesign.
  2. InDesign Crashing

    • Since Adobe support has already done a reinstallation, creating a new user account on your Mac (as suggested by Robert) is a great idea. It isolates the problem to see if it’s related to your user profile.
    • Third-party fonts can sometimes cause crashes. Try disabling the newly added fonts temporarily and test InDesign again.
    • Monitor the app via Activity Monitor for resource spikes or crashes. This can provide insight into what’s triggering the issue.

Take it step by step, and let us know how things go. Hopefully, you'll get this resolved soon!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Judging by other similar threads, Sequoia is unlikely the cause for your problems.

Do you have the same issues with InDesign 2024? You can install it from the Creative Cloud app if needed. Many users have issues specifically with the new InDesign 2025.

Thanks for the intel, yes I did try 19.0 but will have another attempt now. Another thought I had is that I recently synced my files to One Drive (Though I think I tried his as a work-around / working locally as opposed to Adobe cloud).
