Indesign crashes

Everytime I try to place a word document, it crashes.

I have a InDesign document and its all set up with paragraphs styles and a lot of presets. Im doing place, show import options, then I choose my Word file. I choose my preset where my paragraphs styles are mapped. InDesign crashes every time at that same point.

If you're opening it from a server, save it locally.

Try resaving the file to a new file.

Try copying all the content into a new Word file.

Try resaving to a different format, like doc to docx, docx to doc, or maybe just RTF if the document doesn't use any fancy features.

If it's still giving you troubles, try to narrow down the corruption by breaking the Word file down by halves and importing the smaller and smaller chunks.
