Question

Indesign crashes after trying to link text frames

Hello,

again my InDesign (version 2024 of Creative Cloud) makes problems with a rather easy feature: I added new pages to a larger document (52 MB indd-file) before existing text frames ... while I'm trying to link the text frame of the new page to the (older) following page InDesign crashes.

I don't believe it's due to my hardware (iMac 2024 with M3 chip and 16 GB RAM), so perhaps someone may help how to solve this problem - which frankly spoken I cannot understand for a Desktop Publishing Program which should handle very large documents.

Thank you

The problem might be related to font(s) used in the document. Can you check how many copies of the same font(s) you've installed - and if another copy is present in the Fonts folder, next to the INDD file.

And what is the exact version of the OS and InDesign?

Hi @Markus37684163kx4l,

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing crash using text frames. In addition to what our expert has asked, could you please confirm if you've submitted the crash report and added your email address so we can fetch the crash reports for investigation.

Is it possible for you to share the packaged InDesign file with me over a private message so we can check at our end? Please also confirm if the issue is happening on InDesign 19.4 version only or it's happening on 19.3 version as well.

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Dear Harshika,

I just sent the crash test to Adobe with my email address and asked to forward it to you.

Perhaps you'll find a solution, if not I may upload the InDesign file on my OneDrive for further investigation.

As I wrote to Robert, the InDesign version is 19.4

Thank you all ... greetings from Berlin

The often used way by storing an IDML file and saving that as an INDD file also doesn't work - InDesign crashes
