InDesign Crashes and Files Get Corrupted When Placing Items from CC Libraries

Hi all! It seems like no matter what I do, when I place anything from my CC Library into InDesign it immediately corrupts the file and I’m unable to save. Then, when I close and reopen the app I’m prompted to recover the file, but doing so only makes it crash and send a report to Adobe. This is my first time using the CC Library, so is there something I’m fundamentally missing? I’ve found it’s the only way I can get the graphics I made in Illustrator over to InDesign without losing quality. Help!

(Both apps are fully up to date)

    Hi @ucsophia_4150,

Thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry you’re running into this issue. When you mention both apps are up to date, could you please confirm if InDesign is on version 21.2 and also share which OS you’re using? I checked on my end but couldn’t find any crash report linked to your community email. If you see the Adobe crash reporter when the app crashes, please submit the report and share the email address used via DM so I can look into it. You can find more details here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

In the meantime, please try signing out of the Creative Cloud Desktop app and then signing back in, and check if that helps stabilize placing items from CC Libraries. You can also try opening your Illustrator file directly in InDesign using File > Open and selecting the AI file, which will open the graphic without using Libraries.

If the issue still persists, please close all Adobe apps, use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove the Creative Cloud Desktop app, CCLibrary, and CoreSync using https://adobe.ly/4mkYJCc, then reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop app from https://adobe.ly/43fQrCS. After that, relaunch InDesign and test again.

Please let me know how it goes and share an update so we can take this further if needed.
