InDesign crashes during copy/paste

I have a pre-existing InDesign document that I have built multiple versions of over the past year. All of a sudden, when I try to copy and paste from any of the previous versions into a new version, InDesign crashes. I can copy and paste from any other InDesign document into that new version without any problems. Any ideas…

Most likely your INDD document is corrupted - try IDMLing - export as IDML, open, save with a new name - do not overwrite your original file.
