InDesign crashes every time I click Hyperlinks panel

Everytime I click the Hyperlinks panel InDesign crashes.

I have tried resetting InDesign preferences, but no luck. I have a large document with many links I can no longer work on.

Any help gratefully received.

      I'm running into performance issues any time I try to access or change a hyperlink in the panel. It happens with several documents and only when I try to add or edit a hyperlink.

      Hi @artist0910,

       

      I understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes or performance issues when trying to work with the Hyperlinks panel. To help get this sorted out, could you both please share the version of InDesign you're using and the details of your operating system?

      In the meantime, here are a couple of steps you can try:
      1. Update to the latest version of InDesign if you haven't already-sometimes these issues are resolved in updates.
      2. Clear your preferences and caches one more time, and check if the issue persists with smaller documents to rule out file size as a factor. Reference: Set preferences in Adobe InDesign
      3. You can also try exporting the document to IDML and reopening it to see if that helps with performance.

      If possible, could you also share a screen recording of the workflow you follow when the issue occurs? This will help us better understand the problem.

      Having trouble resolving this issue. I've tried updating InDesign, udpdating my OS, saving new files and opening in older versions. Anyone help is appreciated!

      The "This issue is fixed" page was updated  Jul 15, 2021.

      This could point to a bug fix that was done with InDesign 2021 version 16.4.0.55.

       

      What's your exact version of InDesign?

      What's your operating system?

      Hi Uwe, I usually keep my CC apps updated within a week or so of release. My current InDesign is 17.0.1. Mac OS 11.6 Thanks 🙂

      I've just started having this problem with some docs. When I click on the link other users have shared, it just says the issue has been fixed without prooviding any background or tips, which obviously isn't very helpful. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know 🙂 Thanks!

        Me too. Yesterday I abandoned a document because of a hyperlink that I narrowed down to a lower case w I couldn't unlink or replace the text. Such a pain. I tried the IDML and back to INDD thing, I have uninstalled and re-downloaded InDesign 17, and my new document is crashing now. I'm yet to narrow it down to which link it is but it's the hyperlinks panel.

          You could try to uncheck the auto URL check:

          I have tried on another installation on a different machine - still crashes.

          It appears to be just the one document. If I open a new document, the hyperlink panel works.

          I have saved as .idml and re-opened, but still crashes.

          Any help gratefully received.

            I can amend the hyperlinks if I right-click on the text and use the contextual drop-down menu, but the Hyperlinks panel cannot be opened without crashing.
