InDesign crashes on Smart Textflow

Hi,

 

we use Smart Textrelow and we have seceral documents where InDesign crashes when new pages are created. So far we could find any "rules" or circumstances why or with which elements on a page this happens. The same document with the same text may render fine if the width of the text frame is changed.

 

Any ideas? Does anyone experience the same?

    Did you experiment with a thorough reset of InDesign? There are 4 successively deeper stages of resetting as outlined in our "Reset InDesign Preferences and Other Troubleshooting"

    Yes, I tried everything. What did the trick was removing all footnotes in tables. Without those everything went fine. If you need sample files to investigate this issue further, please let me know.

    It is possible to setup paragraph styles along with other complicators like grep styles that create incredibly complex ID documents. They can slow to a crawl, if not crash.  I would have a second look and see ways to simplify or identify contradictions.

    Do you have 32gb or RAM or more? How many pages are flowing? Can this be reduced?

    Did you try washing the ID document of corrupton by round-tripping to IDML and back?

    Does it crash if you turn off Smart Text Reflow stuff and adjust pages manually?

    here are my answers:

    No, it's 16 GB

     

    >How many pages are flowing?

    No rule here. May be any page. But for the same document it is always the same page. 

     

    >Can this be reduced?

    Yes. (it happens with InD Server, too)

     

    >Did you try washing the ID document of corrupton by round-tripping to IDML and back?

    Yes.

     

    >Does it crash if you turn off Smart Text Reflow stuff and adjust pages manually?

    Adding pages manually will also crash InDesign.
