Can't  open or access my file any longer.

Can I download this file local somehow?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you’re facing with these files, I understand how frustrating this can be. I tested this on my end but wasn’t able to reproduce the issue so far. To investigate this further, could you please share one of the affected sample files after packaging it? You can follow the steps here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/preflighting-files-handoff.html#package_files. Please note that packaging works only for files saved locally, so you may need to save a local copy before packaging.

If the files are confidential, feel free to share them with me via DM on the community using any public cloud platform like Google Drive or Dropbox.

Looking forward to your update.

I am having the same incredibly frustrating issue. When my collaborators make changes in InCopy on the Web, and then later on I open in the inddl file in InDesign, the app often stops responding. I have about 30 documents out there for collaboration and am struggling with almost all of them.

Same thing here- any change to an .inddl file by someone using chrome makes indesign hang about 10 seconds after opening the file. We have 10 docs currently and they are all doing this. Incopy on the web is completely unusable at this point. Sadly will have to wait until they improve the beta version.

Hi Matt,

My experimenting with Share for Text Editing indicates that it is too buggy to use so far.

And this is a pitfall:

INDD files that have to be saved as INDDC files for Cloud use that also have to be saved as INDDL files to set them up for shared text editing. When you are done editing the text in the INDDL file, you have to remember to save as to an INDD or INDDC file.

Oof da! This creates more work and version tracking than what it helps.

I experienced the same issue today. Yesterday, I shared my design with another team manager to review/edit the copy. Today, I noticed that I was editing the INDDL file instead of the INDDC  file, and so I opened both documents and started copying over the design work from the INDDL file. The INDDL file crashed after a handful of copied items. Then, I tried reopening the INDDL file and it repeatedly crashed InDesign.  I am using Windows 11 and Indesign 2026 v 21.0.

Hello everyone - I'm experiencing this issue too. I'm using InDesign 21.0 on a MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.7.1. I can open other cloud files (.inddc) with no problems. The files that incorporate InCopy on the web will not open in InDesign.

Hello @jaime Hammer,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Could you try reverting to an earlier version of the Cloud Document (https://adobe.ly/3LxAQcJ) to see if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi @FORT 07,

Sorry you're running into this. Could you confirm whether the crash happens only with this particular cloud .inddl file or with other cloud documents too? Also, when InDesign crashes do you see the Adobe Crash Reporter window appear? I searched for a crash report tied to your community email but couldn't find one, so if you do see the crash reporter please submit the report and then DM me the email address you used, so I can look up the logs. Ref: https://adobe.ly/3LmZDju.

While we investigate, please try the troubleshooting steps listed here for crashes on launch and let me know the results: https://adobe.ly/3Lxe30p

Looking forward to hearing back.

Abhishek
