I updated to InDesign 2026 and find If I double click a file to open in Finder window InDesign crashes. The same happens if after opening InDesign, I see previously opened files and double click the one I want to open, it crashes. It also happens when I choose File/Open/"file"

If I reopen InDesign after crash the crashed file opens with it as Untitled file.

Please advise

Hi @TR_ISWEP,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear about the crashes. Could you please confirm if this happens with all InDesign files or just a particular one? Also, let me know which version of macOS or Windows you're using so I can check this further.

Please also confirm if you see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog when the app crashes. I wasn't able to find any crash logs under your community email address, so if you get the crash dialog, please submit the report and share the email ID used via DM, so I can review the logs. In the meantime, try manually resetting InDesign preferences once and test again: https://adobe.ly/43ciIef. If the issue continues, please test in Safe Mode and then in a new local admin user account to rule out third-party interference or any user-specific issue.

Safe Mode:
Windows: https://adobe.ly/43a9mQa
macOS: https://adobe.ly/3LHJnJR

New user account:
macOS: https://adobe.ly/4nCZUMu
Windows: https://adobe.ly/4hElcbr

Moreover, try the suggestions in this crash article and update if it helps: https://adobe.ly/3WF3N8K

Looking forward to your update.
