InDesign crashing multiple times a day for the past week

InDesign has been crashing multiple times a day for me, for about a week now. I'm on a Mac, Sierra 10.13.3. Doesn't seem to be file specific. It crashes almost as soon as I open it, so it's not even happening during a specific task. I've been restarting my computer when it happens several times, and that sometimes solves the problem (until the next day). I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app on my computer. That hasn't seemed to do anything.

Help please!

Okay, so ... looks like I spoke too soon. Still crashing today. I just uninstalled the app and removed preferences. Reinstalled. Disconnected from my external monitor. Fingers crossed. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciate though.

Update: As of now, I can't use it at all. Even if I just open InDesign and don't do anything else, it crashes within 10 seconds.

When you updated to CC 2018 did you have the option "Import previous settings and preferences' checked in the Advanced Options that appeared during the install? Using this option has caused performance issues for many. If so please see this post for more information and what can be done about it: CC 2018 InDesign—Don't Import previous settings and preferences .

One other thought. Are you working on a Personal computer or on a network? If you are on a network then contact your network administrator to confirm that the network has been made compatible with High Sierra and CC 2018. Many times networks are deliberately not updated so as to accommodate firewall and virus software that may not be compatible with the newer OS or the latest version of the Adobe products.

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for your response. I just wrapped up a phone session with Adobe Customer Support -- it appears that the Intel card in my external monitor is causing problems in combination with InDesign and my Mac OS. We renamed my preference folders and then changed the alignment of my two monitors (weird, but it seemed to do the trick). Fingers crossed I can still get it to work tomorrow.

My customer support person said that Abobe is aware of the problems interacting with the Intel cards and is planning on fixing the problem with the next update of InDesign (in about a month). Do you happen to know if this is the case?

In answer to your other question, I'm working on a personal computer and not a network, so I don't think that's the problem.
