Hi,

I'm using Indesign 19.5.2 because this version is more stable than Indesign 20.1 (which is totally unstable with a lot of crashes already reported, but no solution from Adobe yet)

I notice that when you save an Indesign IDMS (Creative cloud library object) like a table for instance, Indesign systematically crashes when you edit the IDMS file by opening it in Indesign, making modifactions and resaving it in the library.

i did it several times to confirm the bug by simply copying a new object in the IDMS file and resaving it.

By doing this i get an error message related to the lost of the connexion network, and then another. message telling me that Indesign will shut down.

The message indicates that this is a serious error

Does it means Indesign Creative cloud libraries object (IDMS files) are not usable ?

Any idea of the origin of this issue and how to avoïd it ?

Please don't tell me to update Indesign, because as i said in the beggining the last version of Indesign CC2025 is not stable so i can't use it in production.

Please find attached the printscreen with the error messages.

Thanks for your help.

Dante,

My opinion about computers is "never" let them go into Sleep mode.

Does anything improve if you avoid "Sleep" mode?

Hi Mike,

According to my investigation, the issue is not related to the sleep mode, but the sync status of the cc libraries.

When the sync of the libraries failed, trying to update a IDMS file will systematically provoque a crash issue in Indesign.

Now that this bug has been discovered, I hope they'll find a solution in a future version.

Hi @Daté11590586,

Thanks so much for all the detailed updates and for continuing to share your findings. I'm currently checking this with the CC Libraries team to get more insight on what might be happening behind the scenes when sync issues occur. I’ll make sure to update you as soon as I hear back from them.

Really appreciate your patience, and thanks again for bringing this up so thoroughly.

Hi,

Following my last comment, i would like to update you about the issue.

After placing my computer in Sleep mode, I noticed that the synchronisation of CC libraries was interrupted.
When the synchronisation is interrupted, I can't restart the service.
Then, when I tried to edit an IDMS file in the Cloud library, Indesign crashed.
So it seems that when the CC libraries aren't syncing, you can't save the IDMS files. But CC libraries are supposed to work offline as well.

Please find attached a video  showing the issue. and the log file i saved from the Mac.

Hi @Daté11590586,

Thanks for sharing the details and logs! Unfortunately, the Apple report isn’t enough for investigation. Since your recording shows the crash reporter doesn’t appear, you’ll need to enable it manually:

Go to:
'/Applications/Adobe InDesign 2025/Adobe InDesign 2025.app/Contents/Frameworks/AdobeCrashReporter.framework/Versions'
Double-click Adobe Crash Reporter (red A icon), choose Always Show This Dialog, and click Done.

Ref: Submit Crash Reports

Once the crash happens again, submit the report with your email and DM me that email, so I can check the logs.

Also, could you test this on 19.5.3 and 20.2? On 20.2, if you're using Typeface, disable it. It’s a known issue in version 20.2, and the team is working on it. Let me know how it goes!

Hi @Daté11590586,

Just following up if you are you still experiencing the issue, or has there been any improvement? If the crashes persist, could you try updating your macOS to Sonoma or Sequoia? Ventura is now a few versions behind, and there might be security vulnerabilities affecting stability. Updating could help resolve compatibility issues with InDesign and CC Libraries. Let me know hthe update.

Thanks,

Abhishek

Hi @Daté11590586

I tested this on my end using InDesign 19.5.2, and I didn’t experience any crashes or shutdowns-it worked fine for me. Could you check if this happens with all files or if it’s specific to certain IDMS objects? Also, try pausing and restarting Creative Cloud sync from the Creative Cloud app > Cloud Icon (top right) > Syncing. You can also try signing out and then signing in again to see if it makes any difference as well.
It might also help to test with a new Library. Try creating a new CC Library (Window > CC Libraries > Create New Library), save an object there, edit it, and see if the crash still occurs. If you have any third-party plugins installed, they could be interfering with CC Libraries, so running InDesign in Safe Mode might help rule that out. For reference: Apple Support – Safe Mode.
Also, when InDesign crashes, do you see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog box? Were you able to submit the crash report? If not, please submit it and share the email address you used while submitting via DM on the community so I can check the logs and get it investigated. For reference: How to Submit Crash Reports.
Let me know how it goes! Looking forward to your update.

Hi

I notice this happen with any IDMS object when the creative cloud libraries sync is not stable.

That's seeem to be logic because the error message mentioned a network connexion issue.

but each time it happens i can garantie my network connexion is working perfecty.

So this problem is probably related to the unstablity of the creative cloud libraries sync process.

When the Creative cloud libraries sync system is not working correctly, it's impossible to pause and restart Creative Cloud sync, due to an error message.

Please find attached the error message i get yesterday in the cc panel.

in the printscreen, you can see the cross mark indicated there is a sync issue

Today, it seems to be stable, so i wonder if the sync issue is not coming from Adobe's servers side.

I've been noticing for several months that the sync stability of CC libraries has become a real problem, and we don't know what to do about it.
Many users around me have even told me that they no longer want to use Cloud libraries because they are no longer reliable.
How can we find out what needs to be done to improve the stability of Cloud library synchronisation?
Cloud libraries are revolutionising the way we use Adobe applications and it would be a real pity to stop using them.

i will continue to collect information to send it to you, but please it would be so kind to come back to me with a solution.

I'm working in the fashion industry as a consultant and i'm pushing a lot of designers and brands using Adobe products and especially CC libraries. today, i fill stuck because i don't know what to tell them when they explain me that CC libraries sync is not working.

Something is going wrong with CC libraries sync and make indesign unstable.

This problem also appears a lot in Illustrator and make the app frozen when you try to save or use assets in the library during a sync issue.
