InDesign crashing when trying to replace links in document

My Mac updated OS over the weekend to Monterey 12.6 and now every time I try to place / replace an image in InDesign, the program crashes every single time. I have tried uninstalling the newest version of InDesign and installing older versions but the same issue is still happening. This is a HUGE problem!! Is there a fix for this?

reset your preferences.

first try, resetting the cc app. to reset the Creative Cloud desktop app, make sure it's in the foreground, then press: Win: Ctrl + Alt + R Mac: Cmd + Opt + R
