Indesign Creates Only Corrupted Files

Every new file I create in indesign 2026 is corrupt

I can work in the file, but can't save or export it.

I took an hour on an Adobe support chat, they told me it was a known issue, a conflict with MS updates and they were in progress of patching it, meanwhile I should reset preferences (nope) and uninstall all MS updates (yep).

So MS updates re-installed themselves - obviously - and I’m back where I was. 

My main business tool is unusable. 

Any ideas or solutions, or a timescale for the patch please?

      Hi Benb,

      You can go to Windows Updates and look for and install this update from MS:

      January 24, 2026—KB5078127 (OS Builds 26200.7628 and 26100.7628) Out-of-band

       

      Also, if you haven’t already done so, install the InDesign 21.2 patch which is now widely available. Go to your CC App and click on Apps and View Updates,

      Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear you’re running into this issue. This is a known problem, and our product team is working on a fix in coordination with Microsoft.

      In the meantime, please try the suggestion shared by the expert and let us know if the issue is resolved after installing the out-of-band Windows update from Microsoft.
