InDesign CS4 only shows gray empty surfaces

Hey, I got a new mac pro (early 2009) with a pre-installed licensed version of InDesign CS4. I updated the mac's software so it's High Sierra 10.13.3 now.

This is what it looks like when I start InDesign:

Has anybody had this issue? I've tried opening a new document but it only shows another gray window. When I open InDesign files they are displayed but I can't work on them.

Pre-installed? Unless the prior owner filled out and filed all of the license transfer paper work you cannot legally use that software. Additionally, as already noted CS4 is not compatible with High Sierra.

They are all separate applications and because some work on your computer doesn‘t mean InDesign will or should work.

Hello,

I worked fine with InDesign until High Sierra. I have now in Mojave the same issue. But all other application from CS4 working fine. So there MUST be an issue of the programming.

Unfortunately I can't reinstall, because I got an empty error message with a warning and nothing happens.

InDesign has a completely different code base.

And if you are considering upgrading, you'd better check out the system requirements for the latest versions of InDesign:

This is very old version of InDesign and it's not supported to run under High Sierra. If you need to run InDesign upgrade to the latest version(s): CC2017/2018, or revert your OS.
