InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding

Five to ten times a day InDesign stops responding. It's usually when I open a document and then try to click into a text box. I get the beachball and it never recovers. When force quitting it says that Indesign is not responding. I have to restart my computer at that point and it works for a while then starts to do this again. I have neither the time nor patience to deal with this, it's making it very difficult to get work done.

I've found a few threads that are similar and tried the fixes recommended to no avail (the main one being getting rid of a certain asian text plugin). But I have yet to find a thread that shares my exact problem.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

It seems more of the permission issue, check in the new user account with the administrator privilages and then check.

Also , check moving the Prepress folder out on the desktop from the Plugins folder of Indesign.

Not sure what you mean by the "new user account with the administrator privileges" ?

    Where would I find that?

Create one as a test. If ID works when logged in with this new account, then there is something wrong with you original account, most likely permissions. Your options are to go through the old account and find what's worng or use the new account a n rebuild you preferences as you need them.

But you haven't put links to them here, so we still have no way to help you.

    Per John Hawkinson:

When it hangs, run Activity Monitor, select InDesign, and run Sample Process. You'll get a report. Upload it to http://pastebin.com/.

Then, chose View > Send Signal: Abort (SIGABRT). You'll get a crash report. Upload that to http://pastebin.com, too.

Post both URLs here, we'll tell you why it hung.
