InDesign CS6 keeps crashing, database error 2

Hello everyone,

my InDesign CS6 keeps crashing right after opening a document with the error " Database error 2, file is damaged" ..

Have tried it with a copy of the file and even a complete new file but it's the same with each of them..When  I work with a new file,
it works for around 5 min and then I scroll down, the picture freezes, all placed photographs disappear and a big grey frame appears.

Same thing with saving the file, right when I click on "save" another error shows " Adobe InDesign is no longer working, the program will be closed".
This also shows up when I haven't used InDesign for a few minutes.

Have installed any outstanding updates and opened InDesign in safe mode, nothing worked so far.

Would be great if you've made the same experience and know what to do !

Greetings

Windows crash reports are worthless but a couple things to note.

CS6 is not supported under Windows 10 but if things are working locally you should have your IT folks look at the network. You could also try running InDesign in Windows 7 compatibility.

Hi michaelah,

As per your query, you are getting this error while you are opening the the files?

I would request you to please share some more details like:

Operating System(exact Version of Windows or MAC)

Version of InDesign

Where the files are saved or being opened? System folder or external drive or from some network drive?

If they are saved on some network drive like Dropbox or some office network, please copy the file on desktop along with the links and check how it works?

Also, please share if there is any crash report.

Regards

Srishti

Hello Srishti,

thanks for your mail. System is Windows 10, version InDesign CS6.
The files are saved on a company internal server. Yes, error appears when I open the files
or when I have been working on the file for some minutes.

Tried your hint with copying the files to the desktop, seems to work perfectly without any
fails then ...

Hm, what exactly do you mean with crash report? The only thing I get are these "error messages" ..

Thanks and regards
