InDesign CS6 move from one computer to another...?

Hopefully someone will be able to help me!

I work in a small office, we currently have InDesign CS6 installed on my office computer; however, my work doesn't require me to use it, but a colleague really needs it - which means he often has to jump on my computer, which can disturb my workflow.

Is there anyway I might be able to uninstall InDesign on my computer and reinstall it onto his?

Thanks!

Deactivate it first. Uninstall it and then install it on the other machine.

Notes:

  • You'll need the serial number.
  • It must be the same platform (Win/Mac)
  • It must be a supported operating system (Win 7 SP1, 8/8.1 or Mac 10.6.8-10.10)

Is there any way of finding my product key through InDesign?

For some reason it's not logged in my Adobe accounts Order History. I have tried some product key finders and they've not been able to reveal it without me purchasing the full key finder product... Any help would be super appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Fabienne,

the best you can do is to reveal parts of the serial number with the little ExtendScript (JavaScript) snippet below.

That may give you the right hint if you have stored a list of keys for several installations on your site.

alert( app.serialNumber );

How to save, install and use ExtendScript scripts:

Bob,

Wasn't it possible with CS6 discs to install on two machines? That way the OP would not have to deactivate the first version—even if they're not using it now, one never knows when it might come in handy.

Yes. But if it’s not being used, there’s no point in leaving it activated. In short, better safe than sorry.

Also, no way to know if that machine was already the second install.
