InDesign CS6 will not open CS6 files

"Cannot open "Annual Report.indd" because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign (CS9.0). You must use that version or later to open the file. TO then enable it to be opened in this version, choose Save As InDesign CS4 or later, or export to IDML"

Version 9 is the original InDesign CC.

    CS6 is version 8.

The current version of InDesign CC 2018 is version 13.

If a CS6 file was opened in version 9, you will need to save it as an .idml file to open it in CS6. If you download the CC 2018 trial, you will be able to do this.

Will the 2018 trial change how my CS6 suite functions?

    Hi Noah:

It's not supposed to. If you want to play it super safe, you could install it on a different computer. As long as you have your serial number, worse case is you can reinstall CS6. You don't need to download all the CC apps—just InDesign.

    InDesign CC Trial:

Free InDesign | Download Adobe InDesign CC full version

    InDesign CS6:

Download Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications
