InDesign data merge font issues...

I am having a hard time getting an InDesign file to retain the font properties after performing a data merge.  When viewing the original file, I have the desired font set and displayed correctly where the data merge fields are inserted.  I should also mention that this particular file was packaged by the author and all fonts were included with it... no missing font errors are displayed.

I can preview the merged files and everything looks ok, but as soon as I actually perform the merge, the font settings change from "Denver Black" to "[Denver (OTF)] [Black]" and the font is visibly different.  I've searched and found that the square brackets mean the font is missing, but how can this be?  It is not missing in one file but in another it is missing?

Any idea what is going on to cause this change?

Try saving the merged file into the same folder with the packaged merge template. My guess is that the fonts are being pulled (for the template) from the Document Fonts folder there. Maybe the new document needs to be saved there in order to access them from that folder.

AHA!  That did the trick!  Thanks @SJRiegel!  Do you know if there is a way to get those fonts to work globally on my system so I don't have to save the merged file and reopen it from the same folder in my system each time this action is performed?  I've tried opening and installing them directly from the packaged fonts folder but for some reason it still doesn't load them until I've saved the file in the same packaged directory.

I only ask because this will be a bit of a repetitive task and if there is a way to get those fonts to work globally, that would be ideal.  If not, I will just take the extra steps as I can at least generate those files correctly this way.  Thank you again for your help!

If you have a license to use it, install the font in the operating system.
