InDesign does not honor whitespace on CC library vector graphics

This has been a longstanding issue. I have a vector logo placed on a specifically sized artboard within Illustrator that has designated safety space around. the artwork, however InDesign adjusts the frame to fit the content within that artboard instead of the artboard itself. Is there a setting I'm overlooking to correct this?

The reason it is of importance to me is because I we have a signature mark (SM) on the left side of the logo which pushes the actual logo off-center when placed in InDesign, even though I've centered the logo on the Illustrator artboard to accomodate that mark.

Look up the Import Options for AI and PDF files:

https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/placing-graphics.html#acrobat_pdf_and_illustrator_ai_import_options

If you want to place the whole AI artboard see into option Trim.

Hi MDKTM,

I think that some placing options in the background are in your way.

If an ai file is placed from a CC Library you have no option to decide how the ai asset is placed.

But that does not mean InDesign is using no options at all.

InDesign is using the placing options you did the last time you placed an ai file with the Place… menu command.

Or the default options if you never placed an ai file through Place… .

So to check what placing options are into place just place an ai file with the File > Place… command, tick showing the options while you see the menu where you can pick files, do the placing options that fit your needs with CC Library ai file assets and place the ai file to the page. InDesign will remember this.

Then go on placing your ai asset from a CC Library.

Add a frame without color nor stroke to the art before adding to the cc library. This should include the white space.
