InDesign error when exporting PDFs

Hi All,

I am working in InDesign CC 2017 and have been running into an issue when trying to edit a file and re-exporting it to a PDF after it has already been exported once before and automatically previewed in Acrobat. It seems as though InDesign does not recognize that the original PDF has been closed and will not export a new one until I quit Acrobat. Not sure if the error is with InDesign or Acrobat but was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

Thank you

I've don't remember ever having to quit Acrobat to make a new proof from InDesign. I just need to remember to close the previous PDF file.

Neither did I, however, even after the file is closed in Acrobat, InDesign will not export because it says the file is still open and will not save over the original PDF.

A preview of your document within your file browser or explorer window will be considered an open file.
