InDesign Export Issues

Hi,

I am having issues when Exporting a InDesign file.

It keeps cancelling export and says there is an issue on page x. I have no clue what the issue may be.

Further, when I remove that page and try exporting again, it says there's an issue on another page.

It even cancels exports for pages e.g. 25-40, saying there is an issue on page 5.

Does anybody know how to resolve this?

Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your reply.

I am currently using InDesign version 20.3.1.73 and this issue is happening just with this file, not with others.

I am moving pages from a master file downloaded via OneDrive, sent by our global team into our local catalogue.

Previously, I converted the original file to IDML then to InDesign File and a lot of elements such as images and text went grey with a black cross. Could this possibly be the elements causing issues?

For now, I have created a new document and moved pages one by one to the new document and exported each time to ensure there are no issues. Once or twice, an issue came up so I recreated the page manually, which seemed to resolve the issue.

Appreciate your help and support 🙂

Hi @narmeen_6790,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you’re facing with exporting. From what you described, it sounds like there may be a corrupted element or font in the document that's tripping up the export process. Could you please let me know which version of InDesign you’re currently using and your operating system details? Also, is this issue happening with just this file or with others as well?

One quick way to narrow it down is to try exporting the file as an IDML (File > Save As > InDesign Markup), reopen that IDML file, and then try exporting it as PDF again. This can sometimes clear up hidden corruption. If the issue persists, it would help to know what kind of content is on the flagged pages, such as placed images, fonts, or special effects.

If possible, created a new document and then move the content from the older file to the newer one and see if it helps.

Feel free to share an update once you've tried.

Abhishek
