Hello,

I saved my Adobe InDesign file last night, and this morning I opened it u,p and the links flashed as being missing. So I closed it, and now when I open the latest save file, it's a save point is from hours before I did tons of work. Does anybody know of a cause or solution to this?

Hi @Gabriel34426651jix4,

Just checking in if you were able to resolve the issue after trying the suggestion shared by Robert to roll back to an earlier version of InDesign? If the problem still persists, I'd be happy to look into it further with you.

Let me know how things are going on your end. Looking forward to your update!

Hello Abhishek,

The rollback did not resolve the issue, I ended up having to redo most of the work. Ive looked through many files and possible solutions but none of them worked to recover the work.

Thanks,
Gabriel

Hello @Gabriel34426651jix4,

If you were unable to recover the work from previous versions of the file, the edits were likely lost. We understand this may not be the ideal outcome, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Could you confirm if the file was saved on a network, removable drive, or a cloud-synced folder like iCloud Drive or OneDrive? Storing files in such locations can sometimes lead to issues.

To avoid similar situations in the future, we advise saving multiple copies of your active work locally or saving them as cloud documents.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need assistance. We're here to help.

Such a thing is not a generally known problem with InDesign. If you saved it, it would open to that version.

What platform, OS and InDesign versions?

Where have you saved your file? Locally or on some cloud service?

Thanks for your reply.

I'm working on a Windows platform, and the file is saved locally in my internal Documents folder and to an additional hard drive, not on a cloud service. I'm using Adobe InDesign version 20.3.1.
