InDesign File crash

InDesign File crash

I am having a crash with a particular InDesign document.

Windows 10 pc

I have re-installed InDesign in multiple versions of 2021 and 2022.

I have updated Windows

I have tried to open the file in Windows safe mode but it still crashes.

 

This file is now preventing the opening of any of the above versions of InDesign, whether opened from CC, start menu or shortcut, also tried as Administrator.

 

The file still crashes on a second PC.

 

It results in the following Administrative Events error;

The crash is somewhere in Preflight.

 

Move the document away so it does not open on restart.

Start InDesign

Open Window >> Output >> Preflight

Uncheck "On"

Move the document back (so it finds its links) and open.

Worked for me on my Mac, but I can't assess what may be missing.

Unfortunately the forum upload is broken:

  • The attachment's visitors map.idml content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed.
 

 

When you share the document, eventually include the links?

There is an alternative email address mentioned e.g. in this message

Do you mean that now your InDesign applications are still crashing even when you are launching them without trying to open this document? If so then to solve this probably the following will help https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/kb/indesign-crashes-upon-launch-attempting.html

Crashes here as well even after running the recovery tools I have available. Best bet is to send the file to idfile@adobe.com with as much information as you can.
