InDesign file disappeared? - Back-up will not open?

Weird? An InDesign file has disappeared from a folder? When I try to copy a back-up file from an external it will not copy back to HD. Unexpected error message (error code - 1407) When I try to open from external I get the message that it is already openby another user(only me). Have tried restarting but same errors.

Any ideas please.

    It sounds like a corrupted file. Corrupted both on your hard drive and on your backup drive.

    Do you have any other incremental backup?

    Thanks for your reply Steve. Seeing as the file had mysteriously disappeared I thought I should check my trash.

    Low and behold there it was - perhaps this is why I was having problems opening as it was sitting in trash and stopping any other copies being imported or opened. Red faced! - but a happy outcome.

    Just as a test tried copying over from an external onto desktop - still coming up with an error. Have tried other files with success so perhaps as you say it could be corrupt.
